Against the sun-drenched beauty of Mallorca, two people brought together by faith made a promise before God—and reminded everyone present that genuine Black love is still something worth believing in.
Congratulations Mr & Mrs Roberts....
Some friendships begin so naturally that you do not immediately realise how important they will become.
I first met Chantal in 2017, when we were both representing a health programme. Alongside our beautiful friend Krystal, we quickly became an inseparable trio. Our friendship was built on faith, our love of God, health—and, if we are being completely honest, our shared ability to party!
Chantal has always been the calm within the group: our beautiful Vincentian queen who could dance all night in heels and still somehow remain perfectly composed. Whenever I needed a friend, a sister, a supporter or simply someone who would be there without hesitation, Chantal showed up.
She is gentle, but she is also a force.
That is why standing beside her as a bridesmaid in Mallorca felt so special. I was not simply watching a friend get married; I was witnessing a woman I love step into a new chapter with a man truly worthy of her.
And Luke is exactly that—a fine gentleman. Seeing the way he looks at Chantal, honours her and shares her faith made me incredibly proud of the husband she had chosen. Together, they are a beautiful, God-fearing couple whose relationship feels grounded in something deeper than appearance or ceremony.
The morning of the wedding
The day began inside the breathtaking Hacienda Son Antem resort, where the bride and bridesmaids prepared together.
The surroundings were exquisite. The rooms were beautifully designed, the atmosphere felt luxurious and peaceful, and even the bottled water looked as though it had come directly from Harrods.
As laughter, nerves and excitement filled the room, Chantal sat calmly while her talented makeup artist perfected her bridal look. Her hair was flawless, her makeup radiant—but she still looked unmistakably like herself.
Then came the dress.
Once we finally zipped Chantal into her spectacular corseted gown, the entire room paused. She looked breathtaking: natural, timeless and impossibly elegant. There are moments when beauty goes beyond hair, makeup or fabric, and you can see the happiness radiating from within. This was one of those moments.
She was ready.
The look that said everything
Chantal’s entrance was spectacular, but it was Luke’s reaction that truly melted our hearts.
The moment he saw his bride and future wife, his emotions were written across his face. It was tender, sincere and completely unguarded. As his eyes filled, so did ours. It was the kind of reaction every bride deserves—the look of a man who understands the magnitude of the woman walking towards him.
The ceremony was filled with warmth, humour and wisdom. The wonderful Kat brought his natural comedic energy, making us laugh while also sharing meaningful gems about love, faith and marriage.
Every pastor, relative and friend who spoke poured something valuable into the couple—reminders that marriage is not sustained by the beauty of one day, but by patience, friendship, commitment and the decision to continually place God at its centre.
Then came the kiss.
The deal was officially sealed, the room erupted in cheers, and—after all the happy tears—we could finally eat, drink and party until the Mallorcan sun disappeared.
A celebration full of rhythm
The music was impeccable, and the dance floor rarely had a quiet moment.
From the Candy dance to General Levy’s “Incredible,” every song seemed to unlock another memory. The speeches were heartfelt, the atmosphere was electric, and Chantal and Luke’s entrance into the wedding reception had the entire room on its feet.
The mother of the bride also made it very clear where Chantal inherited her moves. Her dancing was impeccable.
At moments, the whole celebration felt like a wedding lifted straight from Tyler Perry Studios: glamorous, funny, emotional, proudly Black and overflowing with larger-than-life love.
But what made it truly special was its honesty. Beneath the beautiful clothes, divine landscape and perfect tables was an intimate celebration of two people choosing one another in front of God and the people who know them best.
Our September cover woman
We simply had to make Chantal our September cover woman.
At a time when popular culture appears consumed by love triangles, situationships and the idea that lasting love is increasingly impossible, Chantal and Luke offer another story.
Their union is a beacon of hope, not because they claim perfection, but because they demonstrate what can grow when two people put their faith in God, choose each other with intention and build from a place of shared values.
Black love deserves to be shown in its fullness: joyful, faithful, tender, glamorous and secure. Chantal and Luke gave us all of that beneath the Mallorcan sun.
Thank you, Mr and Mrs Roberts, for allowing us to witness such honest and intimate nuptials. Thank you for creating a timeless and magical memory for every person fortunate enough to share the day with you.
Chantal, my beautiful friend, sister and forever dancing queen: watching you become a wife was an honour. You were breathtaking, but even more beautiful was the love surrounding you.
May your home remain full of laughter, friendship, dancing and faith. May you continue to choose one another through every season, and may the God who brought you together remain at the centre of everything you build.
Here’s to Mr and Mrs Roberts—and to a love worth believing in.
