Introducing Velvet County: A Female-Led Sci-Fi Thriller Exploring the Price of Perfection
What if the perfect life came at the cost of who you really are?
That is the question at the heart of Velvet County, the latest original project from Femme Fatale TV and our official entry into the Artlist Film Competition.
Set in a seemingly flawless town where beauty, success and happiness are guaranteed, Velvet County follows a chilling mystery beneath the surface of perfection. Inspired by modern conversations around beauty standards, cosmetic enhancement, social media culture and the pressure to constantly optimise ourselves, this psychological sci-fi thriller explores what happens when empowerment becomes control.
At the centre of the story lies the EVE Programme, a revolutionary system created with the promise of helping women become the best versions of themselves. But as visitors arrive in Velvet County searching for confidence, fulfilment and transformation, they soon discover that perfection has a far darker price than they ever imagined.
What makes Velvet County unique is its blend of science fiction, fantasy and social commentary. Drawing inspiration from classic psychological thrillers while tackling contemporary issues affecting women today, the project asks difficult questions about identity, beauty, power and free will in an increasingly curated world.
The trailer was created independently by Femme Fatale TV as part of our ongoing mission to champion diverse voices, female-led storytelling and ambitious original content. As an independent platform, we believe bold stories deserve to be told regardless of budget, background or traditional industry gatekeepers.
